Great Space
This is a print of an oil painting that attempts to capture the relentless upward motion of space. On my long walks in the Lake district, I wanted to create a visual symphony where gravity seems to lose its hold like I witness in the vast space of Lancashire. I have used uninhibited, flowing brushstrokes which traverse the canvas with a dynamic energy, creating a sense of movement that is both physical and emotional. A harmonious blend of different hues weaves through the artwork, each colour from blue hues to white to magenta transitioning seamlessly into the next, evoking the fluidity of the cosmos and the ever-changing tapestry of the sky.
I wanted the atmosphere to be immersive, drawing the viewer into a world where boundaries blur. I wanted to create an interplay of light and shadow which I feel adds depth, enhancing the atmospheric quality and making the scene almost tangible.
